Tool Setters

Qidu tool setting is the process of determining geometric information-length, radius and/or diameter-of a cutting tool, and enable unmanned operation of machine tools. The benefits of tool setting are to improve accuracy, reduce scrap, minimize the level of operator intervention, and save total cost. Tool setting products are referred to as contact or non-contact, depending on the technology employed.

Styluses

Successful measuring performance is highly dependent on the ability of the probe’s stylus to access a feature and then maintain accuracy at the point of contact. Qidu develops a comprehensive range of probe and CMM styli to offer you the greatest possible precision.

√ Straight styli are the simplest and most frequently used type of stylus, and apply for simple features with which direct contact can be made.
√ Star styli are multi-tip stylus configurations with rigidly mounted styli, and apply for surfaces and holes with which direct contact can be made. This configuration offers flexibility, enabling the tip to make contact with different features without changing the stylus.
√ Cylinder styli are made from tungsten carbide, ruby and ceramic, and apply for measuring sheet metal, pressed components and thin workpieces when proper contact cannot be guaranteed with ball styli. In addition, various threaded features can be probed and the centres of tapped holes located.
